Accountant

We are seeking a skilled Accountant to manage all financial transactions for our organization, including fixed payments, variable expenses, bank deposits, and budgets. The Accountant will be responsible for tracking payments to both internal and external stakeholders, preparing budget forecasts, and processing tax payments and returns.

Roles of an Accountant

The five primary roles of an Accountant include:

  1. Maintaining accurate financial records
  2. Ensuring compliance with tax regulations
  3. Preparing financial reports and statements
  4. Conducting audits of financial documents and procedures
  5. Advising clients or management on financial matters

Required Skills

To be successful in this role, candidates must have:

  • Work experience as an Accountant
  • Excellent knowledge of accounting regulations and procedures, including the Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
  • Hands-on experience with accounting software like FreshBooks and QuickBooks
  • Advanced MS Excel skills including Vlookups and pivot tables
  • Experience with general ledger functions
  • Strong attention to detail and good analytical skills
  • A Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a relevant field
  • Additional certification (CPA or CMA) is a plus

Daily Responsibilities

As an Accountant, your daily responsibilities will include:

  • Managing all accounting transactions
  • Preparing budget forecasts
  • Publishing financial statements in a timely manner
  • Handling monthly, quarterly, and annual closings
  • Reconciling accounts payable and receivable
  • Ensuring timely bank payments
  • Computing taxes and preparing tax returns
  • Managing balance sheets and profit/loss statements
  • Reporting on the company's financial health and liquidity
  • Auditing financial transactions and documents
  • Reinforcing financial data confidentiality and conducting database backups when necessary
  • Complying with financial policies and regulations
